After School Programs

As part of our commitment to uplift and support our community, Airway Science for Kids is proud to offer free after school programming.


Programming at each location will run throughout the school year and pause during summer to allow time for summer camps. See below for location specific details and connect with us on social media or our newsletter for updates on expanded programming throughout the year.

 

An annual registration is required to attend after school programming.

Attention all students and parents: Please be advised that after school programming at Portland Airway Science locations will be suspended for spring break from March 27th to March 31st.

Programming will resume on April 3rd.

The Aerospace Training Center (ATC) offers drop in after school programs for students Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm during the school year. Flight simulators, Kerbal Space Program, STEAM activities, and homework help will be available.

 

After registration students are welcome to drop in any day Portland Portland Public Schools are in session.

 

Here are all the details:​

  • Drop in and head home any time between 3:00-6:00pm

  • Open to ages 11-18

  • Located at the Aerospace Training Center (ATC), 3710 N Mississippi Ave. Portland, OR 97227 [map]

  • Students must be picked up by 6:00pm

3D Design club.png

The Aerospace Training Center (ATC) will facilitate an afterschool design and 3D printing club/program for students. Using the computer lab, students learn to design in TinkerCAD and prepare prints for printers in Ultimaker Cura. Students will use tablets to to sculpt their 3D designs in an app called Nomad or interested students can learn to use an app called Polycam for 3D scanning. There will also be the opportunity to learn how to make silicone molds from 3D models. When students have completed their designs they’ll be able to print them out on using on site 3D printers. 

This is a structured after school club and students should plan to attend the entire session each week.

After registration students are welcome to join the next scheduled session. Limited to 15 participants

  • Open design lab

The Hangar at Pearson Field offers a general STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) club for students from 4:30-6:00pm on Thursdays during the school year.

This is a structured after school club and students should plan to attend the entire session each week.

After registration students are welcome to join the next scheduled session. Limited to 15 participants

  • Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm

  • Open to ages 11-18

  • Located at The Education Center on Pearson Field (PFEC),  201B E Reserve St, Vancouver, WA 98661 [map]

  • Registration required

  • Students must be picked up by 6:00pm

RC Club.png

Registration is closed. Check back in the fall!

The Education Center on Pearson Field will offer an RC Aircraft club, hosted by the Radio Control Flyer Club, where students can learn flight dynamics and airplane building techniques. This club is in partnership with the Clark County Radio Control Society and participants will have the opportunity to fly the planes they build with CCRCS mentors!

This is a structured after-school club and students should plan to attend the entire session each week.

After registration students are welcome to join the next scheduled session. Limited to 15 participants
