Happy Fall! I am so excited to share with you that Airway Science for Kids (ASK) is spreading our wings and landing in Vancouver, WA at Pearson Airfield. In partnership with The Historic Trust, ASK will be bringing our education programs to the Pearson Field Education Center. Our first event will be on Saturday, September 24 from 10:00-4:00 as we celebrate Youth in Aviation Day in partnership with the international Girls in Aviation Day. We hope you will join us to visit the education center, meet representatives from various aviation companies and organizations, learn about (and sign up) for ASK programs, and more!
Our current opportunities include Private Pilot Ground School, ACCESS (our Aerospace College and Career Exploration and Selection System), after school programs in Portland, Open Saturdays at Pearson Field, and more. Sign ups will be available at the event on Saturday or by visiting airsci.org. We are also accepting applications for our TeenFlight Plane Build at the Hillsboro airport, which will being in the Spring of 2023.
We have had a very busy year so far with summer camps, in school programs, and outreach events. Through these various programs we have reach over 3000 youth and their families, providing an introduction to aviation, robotics, drones, commercial space travel and the solar system. As students find their area of interest we provide programming that encourages them to continue to explore and learn.
As we expand our programs to Vancouver we are looking forward to increasing programs at Pearson Field and build on our partnerships with Clark County, Cascadia Tech Academy, the Vancouver NAACP and their amazing ACT-SO program, and more. The Pearson Field Education Center will be the home to open programs each Saturday, field trips, summer camps, and more. Due to popular demand we will also be opening the center for private celebrations and events.
I hope to see you on Saturday at Youth in Aviation Day or at one of our upcoming events. Please visit our website to learn about upcoming opportunities and sign up for our newsletter so we can keep you updated on programs and events.
Blue skies and tailwinds,
Executive Director, ASK
